The International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET) has helped train, prepare, and test technicians in the electronics and appliance service industry for over thirty years. The Certified Electronics Technician (CET) Program, founded in 1965, is designed to measure the degree of theoretical knowledge and technical proficiency of practicing technicians. The voluntary certification concept enables employers to separate knowledgeable job applicants from those with less training and skills.

The CET program also protects consumers. In the absence of governmental licensing, the Certification Program can help assure consumers that the person entrusted to service their electronic products possesses the knowledge, the training and the experience necessary to do a good job.

Since its inception, The CET program has steadily increased in acceptance by technicians, manufacturers, employers and by the consuming public. Many organizations, both large and small, encourage and in some cases even require their technical employees to be certified. Currently, over 50,000 persons are CETs.

ISCET promotes technical certification worldwide, and provides a place for certified technicians to band together for professional advancement. ISCET's main function is the direction and administration of the CET program. ISCET members are employed as technicians, educators, and in a number of other occupations related to electronics servicing. Electronics technicians who have passed any of the ISCET CET exams are encouraged to apply for membership in ISCET, as well as any others that aspire to certification and have an interest in electronics.

ISCET is the technical division of NESDA, the National Electronics Service Dealers Association. For more information on NESDA, visit the NESDA website at www.nesda.com.
